In an increasingly fast-paced world, where daily life pulls us away from ourselves, more and more people are seeking moments of stillness and reconnection.

Yoga has become a refuge for many.

But beyond individual practice, there is a real need for community, shared experiences, and authentic guidance.

The Annual Yoga Festival of Romania was created as a space where practice, learning, and connection come together.

Our Story

In 2016, Yoga Festival Romania was born from a simple belief: that yoga deserved a bigger place in Romania.

By that time, we had already spent many years building Fitness Scandinavia School, developing fitness education programs and organizing large events such as the International Fitness Festival. Our work was focused on movement, health, and building strong communities around well-being.

But yoga was different.

At that time in Romania, yoga still carried a heavy stigma. Because of public scandals connected to cult-like groups years before, yoga had unfairly received a dark reputation - viewed as something strange or even dangerous, rather than what it truly is: a beautiful practice of balance, awareness, and inner connection.

We had actually tried to introduce yoga as early as 2008, but many people advised against it, warning it would damage our reputation. Romania, they said, simply wasn't ready.

Several years later, we felt that had changed.

We decided to take the risk. At the same time, we launched our first Yoga Alliance teacher training program, bringing in international expertise to introduce yoga education professionally in Romania. But we also wanted something bigger - something that could bring people together and change perceptions on a larger scale.

That was the beginning of the very first Yoga Festival Romania.

Many people thought it was a bad idea. Most only knew yoga as small studio classes, so the idea of a large festival with multiple halls, international teachers, and hundreds of participants over two full days was completely new in Romania. It took months of persistence to convince teachers and participants alike that this could become something special.

In November 2016, the first edition took place, gathering around 250 participants. Financially, we barely broke even - but that was never the true measure of success. The real victory was seeing people experience yoga differently. They discovered it was not what they had feared, but something much deeper, healthier, and more beautiful.

That first edition lit the spark, and with every year, the festival grew stronger.

Today, Yoga Festival Romania stands as one of the most important yoga events in the region. And every year, you prove that Romania was always ready.
